This was everything a slow cooker recipe is supposed to be: easy, not a lot of ingredients, and smashing issue. Adjacent fourth dimension, I will probably brown the meat before adding to the dull cooker only to give it another layer of flavor. Corking basic recipe that could easily be customized to exist more than spicy or more intense, depending on your flavor buds. This also would be a groovy dish to serve at a party - it appeals to many different palates. Thumbs up!

Slow clap. I used as a base, as i do almost recpies I get. I honey garlic, and spicy items. I modified it to fit my taste. I think without it information technology all the same would accept been great. I love this and information technology showed me how to actually melt the roast and have the true shred to the meat. Cant cheers enough. Exploding loftier 5.

Great recipe!!! I had to alter it to fit into a weeknight carte every bit most people are not domicile to stop the cooking process after 4 hours. So what I did was follow the direction my only alter was cook my meat on depression for 8 hours. After that I followed the directions and returned information technology back to the crock pot for 1 hr on high... I also added a expert amount of garlic salt to the meat when it was cooking on high, it gave it such great flavor.. This is an amazing recipe and tastes and then wonderful!!!! Y'all will be and then happy yous fabricated it!
eleven/25/2011
It tastes proficient, just more similar a stew or bbq than barbacoa.
08/09/2011
This was very tender and moist. It was seasoned enough for our palates so I added additional garlic salt and some chipotle chili powder to liven it upwardly a bit. We fabricated burritos with information technology the first night, and used the leftovers in quesadillas! It'southward a not bad culling to the standard pot roast! I'll definitely get in again!
07/05/2011
I followed all the instructions and afterward I tasted the paste I had second thoughts about putting information technology on the meat. I did not marinate, but added paste and covered the pan. My 12lb brisket was in the oven 5hrs and 40 mins. I discarded the juices and made tacos with corn tortillas, cilantro, tomatoe, Mexican crumbled cheese, chopped onion, lime juice and added homeade salsa! These were DELISHiOUS!! My Caucasian family loved them! Thanks a bunch for this great recipe! I will have pictures posted:)
06/21/2011

12/12/2011
Fantastic! Some other hit with the unabridged family unit. Used a little less chili pulverisation and cooked all day in the crock pot to give information technology that actress tenderness. Served with black beans and fideo. Perfect meal.
10/21/2014
THIS WAS AWESOME! I used tomato plant paste instead of sauce and I swapped the republic of chile powder for v stale chipotle meco peppers that I had run through the food processor with the love apple paste. This tasted exactly similar tacos from Chipotle Mexican Grill. I will make this once again and once again. Just fantastic.
03/xviii/2012
I was disappointed. It'due south non bad, simply it's not like authentic barbacoa.
10/18/2011
This was just ok as written. We like ours a petty sweeter, and then ended up calculation a bunch of dark-brown sugar at the end, and some cumin to aid round out the flavor. Will probably make again with those changes.
07/27/2011
Astonishing! Based on some other review I added a few splashes of smoked chipotle tabasco sauce to make it a little spicier-this is truly delicious and I can't expect to arrive again! Serving it with taco fixings tonight!
09/04/2011

04/23/2013
I go far just as directed and it's very tasty. Used information technology in burritos, enchiladas, tacos, and on a bun. Kids love information technology too.
02/05/2013
My husband and I did non care for this recipe at all. Information technology has likewise much chili powder and a tomato bbq taste that'southward is nothing similar I would expect when making a barbacoa recipe.
x/07/2012
This was then yummy!! A tad spicy, just we like it that way :-) I did add some beef broth to the crock pot later on adding the chili powder because the sauce became actually thick.
08/24/2015
Ho-hum Cooker Beef Barbacoa Haiku: "Mind-blowing, so skillful! I've had this several times at present, no changes needed." I recollect it's merely nifty the way the recipe is written. I've fabricated it b4, just hadn't gotten around to reviewing information technology. Certain it'southward not accurate barbacoa, simply as far as ingredients, method, and stop results become, it's tasty, and terrific over tostadas or tucked inside flour tortillas w/ all one's desired fixin's. I adopt it simple - cilantro and ruddy onion, occasionally some grated cheese.
04/13/2012
Awesome recipe. Made it for the get-go time today, and will definitely make it over again.
04/21/2016

12/06/2018
Fabricated every bit directed. This was not as spicy as I thought it would exist simply it was adequate. It does indeed fall apart and makes a great topping for nachos, cilantro rice, filling for tacos, etc. The vinegar flavour is besides stiff. I call up the recipe should be inverse to either remove the vinegar or change they type to ruby vino / rice etc. and add together a dried de-seeded Ancho pepper to steep alongside the bay leaves.
09/27/2019
It took a couple of hours longer than recipe indicated to get all the meat tender enough to shred. Adjacent time, I'll use a mixture of chili powders to give it a bit more flavour.
12/03/2017
use beefiness cheek meat don't add together lycopersicon esculentum sauce or vinegar just add together garlic powder, onions ability, 3 bay leaf , cummin, salt and pepper your welcome
06/08/2013
This was simple and a terrific base for doing lots of other things :) I made information technology up last nighttime, added a cup of corn later it was finished cooking, and wrapped it upwardly with some cheese in flour tortillas to make chimichangas. Side by side time I do it, I'd similar to add some chopped ancho or anaheim chilies to arrive spicier. The texture came out perfectly and information technology was a terrific treat for supper. Thanks so much for sharing, lizbot!
01/05/2019
Swell recipe, my family loved information technology. So easy to make!
06/18/2014

11/28/2019

02/07/2017
Recipe was skillful simply I made a few changes. I added Chile California Powder instead of the Chili Powder because the kickoff time I made it, information technology came out much too spicy for my kids and husband. I also added onion powder instead of the whole onion, same portion as garlic powder. The changes I made were to go far more to our liking but the melt time was the same. Nosotros loved it and this is how we make it now.
10/27/2016
Tastes delicious, I like to supersede the tomato sauce ingredient with a 28oz tin of whole, peeled tomatoes.
01/29/2018
I've now fabricated this twice and information technology'southward a big striking with my hubbie. Delicious in flour tortillas with lettuce, cheese, sour cream, etc. I did add a couple of jalapeno peppers to spice it up.
ten/13/2017
No
02/ten/2016
I tin can make a mean roast, but I wanted to add some 'options'. This recipe is bully - made it to a T the first time and it's delicious. The bay leaves to add something to the end product, don't skip! Cons - it'due south not actually a "set up it and forget it" meal and then you demand to run into what timing works for yous. Pros - GREATEST thing? When y'all put it in the fridge and have it for dinner the next night, it is even meliorate - more flavor and bite. Nosotros fifty-fifty had plenty for lunch on Day iii - and it was tastier than day 2! Side by side time I'll add together a chip more than flavour with peppers or sauce.
10/nineteen/2016
Made it and it was soooo good! Wouldn't change a affair!
04/30/2016
I altered the sauce a little. I utilise chipolte powder, a petty flake of cumin and oregano. I besides utilize a footling agave. I don't utilize water and I put everything in the crock pot and let information technology cook away. I actually use pork roast instead of beef because it's much less expensive. My husband really enjoyed this and that is sawing a lot as he is Mexicano. He said it tasted authentic.
x/30/2017
Made the recipe equally written and it tasted similar beefiness in tomato sauce to me. Needs more seasoning or something for my tastes
01/05/2013
I take tried many recipes for shredded beefiness similar to what I've had in Mexican restaurants, but nothing always tasted quite right. I recall the secret must be the cooking in vinegar, because this is the flavor I take been trying to duplicate. First-class and easy.
01/07/2017
Information technology was okay simply too much Chili powder flavor.
10/12/2015
I left out the onions to brand it kid friendly. It'due south a household favorite!!!
12/xv/2012
My family unit all loved this recipe. They are picky and to find something they all agreed on was a blessing! I put information technology in a tortilla and put cheese in information technology and sprinkled cheese on it. Melted the cheese in the oven. Delicious!
09/twenty/2012
Excellent!
01/ten/2021
Information technology's delicious, at least once a month on my tabular array, the whole family unit loves it.
12/12/2016
Very expert. I ran out of time to kickoff this on ho-hum cooker way so instead I pressure cooker it instead for 40 minutes. Nosotros and so followed the next steps, but reduced the amount of chili powder, added some dashes of chipotle pepper and used the slow cooker mode for 2 hours. Served with tortillas, rice, beans, Mexican blend cheese, and avocado. This made seven-8 servings for a 2 iii/4 pound roast.
11/27/2017
I added a tin of chipotle chilis and it really added some keen flavor.
09/17/2014
Tastes great, but afterward 7 hours the meat was not shred-able. And then I cut it into small chunks, and ended up with something like fajitas. Next time, I'll marinate information technology overnight before cooking.
04/12/2017
This was delicious and tender! Family loved information technology!
x/10/2016
Smashing tasting, super elementary recipe. I added a bit of the new Tabasco Sriracha to my marinade and it was fantastic. I ate it equally a nacho topping.
x/15/2017
Really proficient, made some adjustments. Didn't accept bayleaf, so I used a roast beefiness season which has bayleaf ,coriander, garlic salt, likewise added rotel tomatoes well drained (your choice has to how hot ) along with a teaspoon of liquid smoke or to your liking. Other than that as recipe states. Married woman loves it!
x/13/2017

10/25/2011
This turned out great, merely I added a few ingredients to the sauce for added flavour; 1/4 loving cup of white vinegar, one chipolte pepper and a couple of dashes of hot pepper sauce. The flavor was fantastic and I would make this once more!
02/thirteen/2013
We really enjoyed this. Were worried that chili powder might be too much merely actually worked. Had it both on tortillas and on a salad. Even if information technology isn't authentic, information technology is expert.
01/xx/2018
I made information technology exactly every bit written and the guys loved it. Served it with blackness beans fresh fabricated pico de gallo and avocado.
05/09/2018
I've never tried beefiness roast like this before. We liked it. Keen past itself or put into a tortilla. I cooked this on low eight hours and so turned to loftier for but almost a one-half 60 minutes after I shredded the meat and added the last ingredients.
05/03/2020
This was delicious. Changed a few things. Instead of a i/4 cup chili pulverization mixed in 1 tablespoon of regular chili powder, I tbsp of chipotle chili powder and one tbsp. cumin. Also added a few teaspoons of liquid smoke to add authentic bbq flavor. Plus we added a tin can of diced green chilis. Finally nosotros strained the broth and retained the onions and so added 2-3 tablespoons of broth back in. It. looked a piffling dry
11/06/2017
This was a great recipe for shredded beef, like we become in our local Mexican eating place. I really thought the amount of republic of chile powder might be as well much, but it turned out corking. Nosotros had burritos, tostadas and tacos from this meat and love every meal! I might change the chile pulverization I use adjacent time I make it to see how it changes the overall flavor.
06/20/2016
I made this for Father'southward Twenty-four hours. Every loved it. I did use apple cider vinegar and chopped garlic instead. I cut the onion in thick rings and placed the meat on elevation of the onions. I also cooked the meat on low for 7 hrs equally I had to exit the firm. I probably used a tad more meat than called for as well. I added a tin of chopped dark-green chilies during the terminal 2 hrs of cooking. I will definitely make this again.
07/15/2016
I added a few chipotle peppers and the sauce from their tin can for some added heat
07/02/2015
I had barbacoa at a couple Spanish restaurants in my city and I always loved it. I searched for a recipe and found this ane! I used yet ingredients but the Simply change I made is I didn't discard liquid because that's how they make information technology hither in va. I fabricated a lot of rice, put some in a bowl and poured the juice and meat over it! And then delicious! Tasted only how I like it! Update--06/2017--I am notwithstanding making this every few months or so. I always accept leftovers because I make more than what information technology calls for in recipe. I put the remainder in freezer and estrus it up when I want it again. Thanks for the recipe!
x/07/2012
Reminds me of the Chipotle Resturant Barbacoa. Make your own Burrito Bowl at dwelling house and add all the toppings on elevation of the barbacoa. Really piece of cake to make and tasty as well.
08/03/2014
Very easy and very tasty. Great for parties. Ready out tortillas and let your guests make street tacos. Friends kept talking about how good it was.
10/fifteen/2017
Is it "authentic" barbacoa, not reallly. Then once more, show me a slow cooker recipe that is. Still, it was tasty and the kids devoured it. For me that equals success.
05/14/2020
I made this recipe for dinner tonight and it was a hitting. The only affair I didnt have was vinegar and so I substituted information technology for one/3 cup of lemon juice. I thought information technology was going to be spicy for my vii and 2 year is only it wasn't. Definitely trying it over again!
eleven/13/2016
I had a good ol' Trusty Chuck (roast) in my refrigerator. My family unit tends to like the same few things over and over, but I wanted to do something dissimilar. I turned to A/R for some ideas. This recipe caught my eye, so I decided to give information technology a go. The rest is history!
02/27/2019
Great recipe!
10/xiii/2013
This was skilful using pork for burritos. Added some extra garlic, garlic salt, and some Frank's hot sauce. The kids liked it pretty well. We adding some rice and added lime juice after it was cooked. J thought some black beans with it would exist good.
12/23/2018
Good, but not quite the flavor I was hoping for. When I make information technology again, I will use apple cider vinegar and less tomato sauce.
01/11/2019
I idea this looked too simple to be very tasty, but I had the ingredients on-mitt so thought I'd give it a attempt. It turned out to be soooo adept! I used El Pato tomato sauce, which gave information technology a much spicier kicking. I might have added a little extra vinegar as well. We ate it with tortillas, cilantro and a niggling sour cream and had refried beans on the side ... delicious!!!
08/23/2017
Turned out great. Rather than get with the "high" setting, I put my slow cooker on "low" and doubled the time. I besides added fresh cloves of garlic and went with a white onion instead.
x/25/2011
This turned out great, but I added a few ingredients to the sauce for added flavor; 1/4 cup of white vinegar, one chipolte pepper and a couple of dashes of hot pepper sauce. The flavor was fantastic and I would make this again!

x/31/2017
Unproblematic recipe with simple ingredients just a whole lot of flavour! Used beef strips instead of a roast and added peppers!

Very easy and i of the BEST dishes always in a crock pot!
10/09/2017
Wow! So freakin proficient! I did as other users and added extra garlic and cummin. I used Apple cider vinegar since I had no white and I cooked the meat in chicken broth verses water. Astonishing!! I just honey how easy it was too!
01/thirty/2014
Very skillful, the longer y'all let cook the easier to shred beef
10/23/2017
Delicious and very savory. Everyone loved it.
07/05/2018
I knew I wouldn't be home in time to exercise the 4 hours and 2 hours on high, so I ready the crockpot on low while I was at work ~8.five hours. When I got home, I followed the directions for the concluding role. It turned out and so tender and delicious and I have plenty of leftovers!
07/xx/2015
For our tastes, I felt the chili powder was a little overwhelming in this dish. If I were to go far again, I would probably decrease the corporeality by at least a tablespoon or two. Also, I would probably not drain all the liquid side by side time, equally I felt it needed some for season and for moistness. We used this in soft tacos and also in rice bowls for a nice, filling meal. Thanks for sharing your recipe, lizbot1.
